Claimants
studying language courses (except written Chinese courses)

Claimants studying
language courses (except written Chinese courses) are additionally required
to pass a specified benchmark test at the specified (or higher) level after the course has commenced and before the expiry of the 4-year validity period.
|
|
|
Benchmark
test(s) should be taken after
the course has commenced and before the expiry of
the four year validity period stated in the letter
of approval-in-principle for CEF. Claimants should check on
the examination dates of relevant benchmark tests / examinations
and plan their study schedule.
|
|
|
In support of successful completion of the language course
and / or to claim reimbursement of the fees for benchmark
tests / examinations, a claimant should complete the “Continuing
Education Fund – Reimbursement Claim Form for Benchmark Test
/ Examination Fees” [SFAA 205] and submit a copy of
the receipt of the benchmark test / examination fees and a
copy of documentary proof of passing the specified benchmark test at the specified (or higher) level. These
documents must be submitted with the RCF for the relevant
language course. A claim for reimbursement of
the fees for benchmark tests / examinations will only be entertained
if it is accompanied with a claim for the relevant language course.

With effect
from 1 September 2009, CEF claimants can make use of the
same benchmark examination to support the claim for more
than one language course. However, the examination date
of the benchmark examination must fall after the course
commencement date of the reimbursable course used for
claiming CEF. Other conditions under the prevailing
reimbursement requirements, including the requirement of
passing a specified benchmark test at the specified or
higher level and only one claim for reimbursement of the
examination fee for each benchmark examination, etc
remain unchanged.

Hong Kong Vocational English Programme (HKVEP)
The HKVEP is accredited by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examination Board (LCCIEB). It consists of 5 levels which are distinguished by the complexity of work task and of language. The levels are aligned with the Council of Europe’s Framework for Languages. At the same time, the Hong Kong Workplace English Campaign (WEC) recognizes the equivalence between the HKVEP levels and WEC benchmark levels.
