Continuing Education Fund Open to Degree Holders

The eligibility to apply for the Continuing Education Fund (CEF) will be relaxed to include degree holders from tomorrow (September 1).

A spokesman for the Education and Manpower Bureau said today (August 31) that :Taking into account the needs of degree holders in pursuing continuing education, the Government has decided, upon consultation with the Legislative Council, that the eligibility to apply for the CEF should be relaxed to include degree holders. This relaxation would help degree holders to pursue continuing education to further improve their knowledge and skills to meet the challenge in a knowledge-based economy," he said.

:To tie in with this change, a new application form and a new set of Guidance Notes have been issued," he added.

:We have also made a number of other revisions to the original application form and Guidance Notes to further clarify the application procedures as well as the eligibility criteria. New applicants can make use of the new application form. They are also reminded to take note of the information in the Guidance Notes.;

The new application form and the new Guidance Notes can be downloaded from the CEF website at http://www.gov.hk/sfaa/cef. Meanwhile, old application forms are still valid. For degree holders, they can simply delete the reference to the declaration regarding their possession of an academic qualification at degree or above under Part F :Declaration; of the Application Form.

For enquiries about CEF, please call the telephone hotline 3142 2277 . Members of the public may also visit the CEF website for information on the Fund.
