Grantham Scholarships Fund - Grantham Maintenance Grants
Brief History and Aim
The Fund which was established in 1955 provides maintenance grants to students who are in financial need as assessed under a means test and are pursuing full-time courses at one of the following institutions :
Secondary 4/Senior Secondary 1 or Secondary 5 to
7 courses of the secondary day schools approved by the Education Bureau;
Certain courses of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education. Please refer to the Guidance Notes on Applications for the eligible courses and course codes.
(i) Post secondary 3 courses : Certificate in Vocational
Studies or Diploma in Vocational Education Programme.
(ii) Post secondary 5 courses : Foundation Diploma.
Eligibility Criteria
Full-time students who are in financial need and are studying at the above schools/colleges may apply.
Value of Awards
The value award depends on the amount of funds available and the number of eligible applicants
in the year of application. The value of awards in 2008/09
are $2,320 for S4 and S5 students, $3,100 for S6 and S7
students and $3,749 for students of Hong Kong Institute of
Vocational Education.
Method of Application
The Grantham Maintenance Grants Scheme is now open for
application. Students may obtain the forms from the Grantham Scholarships Fund Committee, 34/F, Wu Chung House, 213 Queen's Road East, Wanchai,
Hong Kong or download the forms (in PDF) by clicking
here. Completed forms should be returned through the Head of school / Department to the same office.
Application Period
Deadline of application: 30 September 2009
Payment Arrangement
The maintenance grants will be paid after the Grantham Scholarships Fund Committee has decided on the allocation of the grants. This will be remitted by direct transfer of the approved maintenance grants to school's account through the bank and the schools are then requested to disburse the grants to the successful candidates.
