Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarships (for Undergraduate, Diploma and Certificate Students)
Aim
This scholarship scheme aims at recognising and encouraging academic achievements of full-time undergraduate, diploma and certificate students at post-secondary and tertiary levels in Hong Kong.
Value of Awards
For the 2009/10 academic year, each successful candidate will receive a one-off grant of $20,000.
They will not be required to relinquish scholarships or bursaries concurrently
held by them. Neither will the value be reduced in such circumstances.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should -
- have the right of abode or the right to land in Hong Kong or are permitted to stay in Hong Kong without restriction;
- have resided in Hong Kong for at least three years;
- be registered full-time students undertaking UGC - funded / publicly - funded courses at one of the institutions listed below -

- be nominated by the principals of their previous secondary schools (for first year students) or by the heads of their post-secondary/tertiary institutions (for second year students or above); and
- not be engaged in full-time employment.
Nomination Procedure
The relevant institutions/schools will be invited to submit nominations in September each year. Suitable candidates will be invited to attend interview normally in November/December. Candidates who have not heard from the Council by the end of
December should consider themselves not being selected.
Announcement of Results
The results of the awards will be announced around January / February. Institutions and secondary schools will be notified of the results.
Payment Arrangement
Scholarship monies will be remitted to the institutions, which will be requested to
make disbursement to the award recipients.
Presentation of Awards
Certificates will be presented to the award recipients at the Awards Presentation Ceremony scheduled for March.
