Establishment of the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund

The Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund was established in 1987 to commemorate the former late Governor Sir Edward Youde. The purpose of the Fund is to provide for and encourage the education of, or research by the people of Hong Kong. In particular, it provides grants or loans with or without interest for the furtherance of education, learning or research within or without Hong Kong.

Terms of Reference

1.	To apply the income of the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund in accordance with Section 6 of Cap. 1140, Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Ordinance for the general purpose of providing for and encouraging the education or learning of, or research by, the people of Hong Kong and, in particular, for making grants, or loans with or without interest -
	a.	for the furtherance of education, learning or research within or without Hong Kong; and
	b.	to educational institutions within Hong Kong for the furtherance of education, learning or research.
2.	To solicit and accept on behalf of the Board of Trustees donations, subscriptions and bequests to the Fund.

Board of Trustees of the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund

Board of Trustee's shall hold the Fund upon trust to apply the income of the same in such manner, to such extent and subject to such conditions as the Council may determine for the general purpose of providing for and encouraging the education or learning of, or research by, the people of Hong Kong and, in particular, for making grants, or loans with or without interest -

a.	for the furtherance of education, learning or research within or without Hong Kong; and
b.	To educational institutions within Hong Kong for the furtherance of education, learning or research.

The Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund has commissioned Dr Timothy WONG to produce the book "For the Future: Sir Edward Youde and Educational Changes in Hong Kong "  (24,440KB) and the publications are also available in Hong Kong public libraries.
